Different Sites in One

August 6, 2009 Des

Okay, so my husband doesn't like that he has to read all my cooking posts if he subscribes to my RSS feed on my blog. He also feels that if something irritates him, then obviously it irritates the rest of the world, so he convinced me to put my cooking and yes it's normal posts on a totally different feed.

So if you subscribe to my blog about my every day life, nothing changes.

But if you want to subscribe to my Cooking blog, you need to subscribe to this address: http://cookingwithdestiny.blogspot.com/

I'm also in the very early stages of starting back up my Yes It's Normal blog. I've transferred the articles I had from last year and am starting to work on updating it. So if you want to be updated on that site (which is a parenting advice blog) you need to subscribe to this address
http://yesitsnormal.blogspot.com/

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you really need to get with it :)

An RSS feed is a way that you can be notified if I write a blog without having to visit my site every day to see if there is anything new (or to rely on me putting a notice on FB as I don't always do that). It's like a blog subscription.

There are a few different ways to keep up with all your subscriptions, but I personally use Google Reader.

If you want to set one up:

1. Go to www.google.com/reader
2. log in. If you don't have a google/blogger/gmail account it's free and easy to get one
3. Once logged in, towards the top left part of the screen, you'll see a small box with a plus sign that says "add a subscription"
4. A box will come up prompting you for a website address.
5. Put in the following addresses (each at a seperate time of course):
http://www.belgexan.com
http://cookingwithdestiny.blogspot.com/
http://yesitsnormal.blogspot.com/
6. You can also put in any other blogs that you read and want to keep up with
7. Then bookmark your google reader page and/or add it as a gadget onto your homepage that you normally use when you log in to the internet from your computer. Since I have a google account and use it primarily, my homepage is my igoogle.com account, so every time I log on to the internet I see my google reader, my email, the weather, etc.

Anyways, hope that helps.

I'm sure you professional bloggers out there have a better way to have divy up my RSS feeds, but since I'm not on an actual website hosting platform and don't want to be at this point, I can't do www.belgexan.com/cooking or /yesitsnormal so for the time being, I have to do it this way.

If I ever decide to get more fancy-shmancy, I'll let you all know of the changes for your RSS feed.
