It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I love Christmas!
It's my most favorite time of the year.

I love Christmas trees,
Christmas lights
Going shopping for presents
Christmas parties
Decorating my house for Christmas
Christmas baking
White Elephant gifts
Eggnog
Lying to Jon about his present
I love Santa, I really do. Love that guy.
I love malls at Christmas time
I love the crowds
I love Christmas plays
Christmas dresses for little girls
Wrapping presents
Going to look at Christmas lights
I LOVE Christmas music!
Oh the list goes on and on.

I'm not going to lie.

It hasn't been the easiest to get in the Christmas spirit this year.

I'm out of my element. I didn't know where to go to buy Christmas decorations, so my house is sparse and my tree is puny. We don't have money this year for presents. We don't have a fireplace, nor an easy way to watch movies on the big TV. Baking has been a challenge because of the ingredients and me having a convection oven things aren't turning out right. My Vandeput family are not as into Christmas as my Benjamin family. I can't drive around on my own to take the kids to do fun Christmas'y things. Even if I could drive around, I don't have anyone to drive around with. Jon is gone all the time and I never see him except late in the evening for dinner and then he goes to bed around the same time as the kids. The house is always cold and it just makes you want to curl into a ball and not do anything. And the headphones jack on my laptop broke, so I can't stream Christmas music through the surround sound...

So suffice to say, keeping up my Christmas spirit has been more of a challenge this year. Wow, I TOTALLY sounded Grinch like :-)

But the snow, OH the snow has definitely helped things.

To look outside and see snow EVERYWHERE, piled on trees, birds jumping through it trying to scavenge food. It's so festive! I looked up the forecast and it's supposed to snow all week and into Christmas, so this is going to be my first white Christmas.

I have no idea what the plans are for Christmas yet. I'm not sure what or if there are VDP traditions, I'm sure there is something. I know they at least get together for a meal, I'm just not sure when. It could all be planned out and Jonathan has just not informed me.
I'm going to be taking the kids over to Jim and Ann Mills' house for a Christmas Eve Brunch, so that should be nice. They have a granddaughter who is Lyric's age and speaks English :-) I know Lyric will really enjoy that.

Speaking of, today Lyric was playing dress up in her room and I was sitting on her bed. She stopped and walked over to me in her Princess high heels, ballet outfit and Cinderella crown on her head and said with the saddest voice, "I really miss my girls" (meaning Ash, Maddy and Kadyn). She then said, "Mommy, why I no have any friends?" It just broke my heart. All I could do was say I'm sorry. Gosh I'm so emotional I'm tearing up just writing that! All she has known are her sister-cousins. She's never been lonely before. I know it's just a season, but my heart is heavy for her.

Well this blog has been a fail. It was supposed to be about how much I love Christmas time, and it's just been a downer. Sorry guys.

Well I hope as you begin this last week before Christmas, that you hug your family, splurge on a gift for a little kid, eat some cookies and drink some egg nog.
And may all your Christmases be white.

MWAH!

PS. I changed my blog template to reflect my Christmas love :-)
