One day late, so I guess the title of this post should be "Merry Post-Christmas!"
The morning started at about 9:30am, the latest Christmas start I've had in my entire life. That is due to the fact that Jon and I went and saw a late showing of Avatar on Christmas Eve and Lyric woke up while we were gone and refused to go back to sleep, so she stayed up with Uncle Chris till we got home at 2am! That girl :-(
Well regardless of the night before, it was Christmas!
We Skyped my parents in so that we could all have Christmas "together" and we opened presents. Some of the highlights:
Shiloh opening his present from Coco
Lyric's hat and gloves from Abby
My Pioneer Woman Cookbook!!! Thanks sis!
Lyric's Barbie laptop from Coco
Lyric's guitar from Timo and Marian
Lyric and I's aprons from Ry and Tiff!
Gigi taking a picture of Lyric while on Skype (got to love technology)
The aftermath of Christmas morning
Christmas brunch of breakfast burritos! yum!
Lyric was exhausted by noon :-)
After a short nap, clean up, cooking and a slight (ok fine huge) breakdown on my part after I got done watching my sister and her family open their gifts and was left with the dull ache of loneliness, it was time for the Vandeput Christmas Dinner.
Dinner time! We ate a delicious meal of fondue bourguignonne
Then it was time to open presents for the kids under 12 and then a gift exchange (white elephant) for the rest of us.
Jon got some pretty classy whitey tighties and spent the evening trying to pawn them off on everyone
In the end, the only taker was Shiloh :-)
Lyric playing with her Barbie Apartment
Christmas cookies that I made. Tried to make them look like presents.
Well that was the abbreviated account of our Christmas in Brussels!
Christmas is my favorite day of the year, and so the countdown has already begun for next year. Only 364 more days :-)
