Videos from Shiloh's Birth Day

February 10, 2009 Des

I just remembered that I had videos from right after Shiloh was born, so I uploaded them to YouTube to post here and then watched them and saw how GIANT I looked right after pushing him out and decided not to post them... but then thought, what the heck, that's what I looked like and I don't look like that now, so I'll post the dang videos! :)

So here is the one when Ly first met her brother

New Pictures of Shiloh!

Des

Brad Shull with Shull Photography just took some adorable pictures of Shiloh last night!

We had a fun time taking the pictures and Shiloh didn't poop on us, which is pretty awesome. When we did this with Lyric when she was newborn, she pooped and pee'd on Jonathan like 3 times :)

Isn't he precious! He has such a chubby face and he is getting all these fat rolls. He's a little chunk! I call him baby Jabba :)

I love this one, I think it's my favorite!
Love the face :)
That's my boy!

HERE are the pictures of Lyric when she was a week old. It's funny how Shiloh looks so much like a boy and Lyric looks so much like a girl, even though they are tiny. They are both adorable :)

We had a fun day yesterday.

It started out with me going to the dentist. I actually got better news then I thought and don't have to have any crowns or root canals. Also, I had never been to this dentist and I really liked her. She spoke French fluently :)

Then me, my mother-in-law and the kids met up with Courtney, Nathan, Abby, Brad and all the kids at Monkey Business which is an indoor playground in Bedford. It was a lot of fun and the kids had so much fun!

Here are 2 pictures of Lyric there:

She has inherited my ability to accidentally show my crack to the world on a frequent basis:

My beautiful girl:

Then we went out to eat and ate more mexican food. My MIL asked why we always ate so much Mexican food and I was like, um, because we LOVE it! :)
Then we put the kids to bed and then all the ladies plus my mom met up and got pedicures! Yay! My toenails were REALLY bad! When they took off my nail polish, you could really see how long my nails were and Courtney was grossing out saying, OMG I can't even look at your feet right now :) Then my poor mom had to have toenail surgery during her time! :) But in the end, we had a delightful and relaxing afternoon that ended with chicken and french fries (plus pictures and eye brow waxing) at Abby and Brad's house! Yay for fun days!

Anyways, I had a list of things that I wanted to do today like organizational things, but I'm just SO tired! I need to feed the baby and then I hope to get a nap in since Lyric just went down for a nap. Maybe after that I'll have some energy.

So yes! Go book a session with Brad because he is awesome and does amazing family pictures, wedding pictures, kids pictures and is so talented!

We Pooped!!!

February 8, 2009 Des

Lyric did some poopy in the potty!! Yay!
FINALLY!

I just felt that you all needed to know that.

Lyric is rockin' on the potty training now. I am so encouraged and I'm so glad that my daughter "gets" it. No pee accidents in almost a week! Heck ya! Hopefully the poop trend continues tomorrow and we have NO accidents! She has been out and about a lot the last few days. Out to eat, to Target, to Church, all of that and still no accidents. She doesn't even get her pull up wet. It's SO awesome! She just tells me when she has to go and we go!

The last 2 days she hasn't pooped at all because she didn't want to go in her pants, but she didn't want to go in the potty chair. So when she went today, it was like nasty and then she went 4 times in the matter of 30 minutes or so. One of those got ALL over the place and all over her.
Then Shiloh right after that had a poop explosion which caused him to get a bath also. I was like SERIOUSLY! How many times can I clean up poop in 1 hour.

What else to talk about...
Well the last 2 nights, Shiloh hasn't been sleeping too well, but last night he barely slept at all. Which of course caused me to start crying in the middle of the night due to sleep exhaustion and wanting the kid just to GO TO SLEEP.
So I decided today that I needed to start him on his schedule. I've gotten him on a good feeding schedule, but since he has been sleeping good at night (until recently), I haven't really worried about the fact that he sleeps all day long. Well now I am trying to make him stay awake more during the day. I did pretty good with it today, so hopefully he sleeps good tonight.

Also, I forgot to mention that his umbilical cord and his plexi ring (from his circumcision) both fell off this week. So no more foreign objects on his body. :)

Hmm... what else...

OH! My dearest Mabrie came in town this weekend and BROUGHT SHILOH'S STAR WARS BEDDING!
I am so excited and it looks FANTASTIC! I will take pics of it soon and post them. I can't wait to get his room all done. I need to buy some pictures and such for the walls and another shelf. I'll probably have to wait till Jon's mom leaves to get it all done up right since we need to move the bed out of there and all, but I'm SO excited! It's going to be SO amazing!
It was also wonderful to see my friend. She is going to be moving back home to Texas soon and it is going to be so nice to be able to see her all the time once again. She's lived away for like 5 years now... it's nuts how fast the time has gone, but I sure have missed her and so has Texas :)

Ok, I can't think of anything else to catch you up on besides the fact that I went and saw Underworld 3 last night with Nikki and really liked it, that I have a dentist appointment tomorrow that is NOT going to go well as they are going to tell me I need a ton of work done, and also that by the end of her visit, my mother-in-law quite possibly may have been to every Target in the greater DFW area because I am obsessed with Target and go there all the time :) Also, after my dentist appointment, Courtney, Abby and all our entourage are going to this new indoor playground tomorrow, so I am looking forward to that.

Okay, well I'm SO tired, so I'm stopping this now!

Hormones

February 6, 2009 Des

Oh the joy of hormones...

My issues with post partum depression are not very severe at all, but I definitely struggle with it to an extent.
I mean, does any woman not right after having a baby? Your body is going through all these extreme changes, trying to get back to "normal". All that is happening while you are trying to find some type of rhythm to life, plus dealing with exhaustion and lack of sleep... Then I am one of those women who need a lot of affirmation when in the midst of life change. I need my husband to be ridiculously reassuring and understanding.

So today has been one of those days. Especially when you add that I am not feeling too well and have had to take more pain medication. I think everything is in the final stages of healing, so I am just really uncomfortable right now.
Then add the potty training, which is going fantasticly well in the pee department, but NOT good at all in the poop department.
Plus, Lyric for some reason has been waking up like at 7am every morning! Jon has been the one getting up with her, so feel more sorry for Jonathan than me. I have no idea why she is getting up so early now. It's no fun.

And seriously, yesterday I felt like I was a toilet.
Shiloh was spitting up a lot yesterday and becuase of it, I had to change shirts twice. Then he pee'd all over me and I had to change clothes again. Then at one point, Lyric had pooped on the floor and then tried to pick it up, so she had it all over her hands and legs and then came into the living room and sat on her potty and then i realized there was poop everywhere. So I had to clean all that up, then give her a bath. It was so nasty. Then later Shiloh was nursing and then spit up ALL over me, like everything he had just eaten. So then I had to change clothes AGAIN and then give him a bath.
It was nuts! Pooped on, pee'd on, thrown up on... ahh!

Thankfully my Mother-in-Law is in town and has been picking up my slack and taking care of all the laundry/cleaning. If she wasn't here, the house would be a NIGHTMARE! I am so grateful to have a good relationship with my mother-in-law. I know of so many people who don't get along at all with their husband's mother and I am so blessed to have a great relationship with her. She'll be here for 2 more weeks, and so I am enjoying the extra help while I can!

Well anyways, Shi is stirring and needs to eat, so I best be going. He is still sleeping really well.
Here are a few updated pics of him:

Don't forget about Joy Kusek's baby shower tomorrow! If you know her, you should be there! It's at my mom's house at 2pm tomorrow!

Potty Training Day Two

February 4, 2009 Des

YAY!

We had SUCH a good day today (so far). We've had NO potty accidents. That is no, none, zero! She has told us every time and ran to the potty and made it!
She did poop on the floor. She realized too late and still ran to sit on the potty. At least it was on the wood floor though.

I am SO much more encouraged by this. Day 2 was WAY better than Day 1. I feel like we can actually do this!

Day 1 we only had one potty success and 3 accidents (one of which was on the couch) and 1/2 poop on the floor and then 1/2 in the toilet.

So yay Lyric!

I've had quite a busy day today. I woke up, took a shower and was joined by Lyric (she loves to take showers with me), then gave Shiloh a bath in his new bath chair. Sidenote, that's kind of hard work. First time I've done all the bathing by myself. Anyways, then after all of that, Shiloh and I headed off to the hospital for his 2nd PKU test. I had totally forgotten about it. I was supposed to have it done by Sunday, oops!
Well since I was at the hospital, I decided to go ahead and do the rest of my AFLAC paper work running around. It's so annoying so I tend to wait till the last second (like right before my mortgage is due) to turn it in. I get my disability/maternity leave from AFLAC. I have to have forms signed by my boss and my doctor, plus records from the hospital.
So I decided to not procrastinate and I printed all the stuff out this morning and filled it all out. Then took the papers that my OB needs to sign up to her office, then went by medical records and got copies of my admission/discharge paperwork, then went by the church and faxed the paperwork to my office that my boss needs to sign. Go me!
After all that, I went and picked up Ashlyn for Courtney and then we went to Target to get a few things.
I got two new shirts (thanks to Teddi!) and some wipes. We were down to our last few wipes, so now we are good. I've tried all kinds of wipes and by far my favorite wipes are Target brand. I just like them the most.
I also got Shiloh a cute Valentine's outfit that says he loves his mommy :) Which he SO does. He loves me so much that he just pooped all over me. Literally. A few minutes ago I was feeding him and he let out a big "bljglkdjgag" and a minute later I was like, am I wet? and sure enough, giant poop explosion all over me!!!! I had to stop his feeding (and he was starving as it was a little over 4 hours since he had eaten) and clean him and me up. It was definitely everywhere!

I was driving in the car today and that song "You're going to miss this" came on and it actually made me start crying (I'm hormonal). I just started thinking about how crazy it seems right now, but how much I'm going to miss this in 10 years. These are the days that I am going to cherish the most. It made me get a better attitude, not that I had a bad one, it just kind of put it in perspective. Click HERE to hear the song and/or read the lyrics to the song if you don't know what I'm talking about. It's a good song.

ALSO,
Shiloh is 2 weeks old today! Can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday I had him and 2 weeks have passed. It seriously goes by so quick. I'm sure the sleepless nights and the crazy schedule keeping, the nursing and diaper changing, not to mention taking care of an almost 2 year old just makes the days all blend together... but my little boy is 2 weeks old. And is getting fatter and fatter :) I'm SO blessed by this little boy. He is just so relaxed. He doesn't require a whole lot, he just wants to be fed and he hates having a poopy diaper, but besides that, he'll just chill. I am so grateful for him... I just love him so much!!!

Anyways, just wanted to write about what a good job Lyric is doing on her potty training. Pray tomorrow is even better!! I need to take some more pictures and post them soon. He doesn't look too much different, but you still need to see his adorableness :)

Much love everyone!

Potty Training Take Two

February 3, 2009 Des

Today is potty training day take two.

We started a few months ago, but then realized it was SO not going to happen when I was on bed rest.

So we started again. I think she gets it this time, however we have had 2 accidents so far and no successes. Both times though she has run to the potty to try and go, but didn't make it. Now we are keeping her in the same room as the potty (in the living room in front of the tv) with no diaper or panties on in hopes that we won't have any more accidents.

Lyric has been doing really well with Shiloh, but I have noticed that she has been a lot more slow to obey and is REALLY testing the line. I think she is just vying for attention and trying to figure out her place in the family since she isn't the only child anymore. The good thing is she loves Shiloh, bad thing is she always is trying to give him her toys and sometimes it's a little to forceful.

Shiloh is doing great. He is such a good baby and a great sleeper! He still only wakes up once in the middle of the night to eat and goes straight back to bed. He is such a good kid that I'm sort of waiting for the bottom to fall out, isn't that awful?! It's not that he sleeps all the time, he is just content. You just prop him up in his boppy and he just lays there and stares and dozes. He's a great baby.

I'm pretty emotional today. I think it's all the hormones. I've cried like 3 times already over stupid things like Lyric pee'ing and Shiloh spitting up all over his clothes right after I changed him... but I just ate and am feeling a little bit better.

Anyways, just wanted to post a blog. Wish us luck on the potty training!
